Semiclosed sand steppes of the Hungarian Plains, developed on calcareous sands with a degree of coverreaching 70-80%, usually in contact with the more open swards of the Festucetum vaginatae, dominated by the endemic Festuca javorkae (Festuca wagneri p.), accompanied by a species assemblage constituted partly of elements of the open perennial grasslands, but mainly of the steppic grasslands, with Poa pratensis ssp. angustifolia, Centaurea arenaria, Eryngium campestre, Galium verum, Potentilla prenaria, Verbascum lychnitis, Silene otites var. pseudotites, Carex liparicarpos, Scabiosa ochroleuca.

A magyarországi alföldeken, általában a Festucetum vaginatae szomszédságában előforduló, gyengén záródó meszes homoktalajú homokpusztagyepek; a talajborítottság itt eléri a 70-80 %-ot. Domináns faja a bennszülött Festuca javorkae (Festuca wagneri p.), kísérő fajaik nagyobb részben a sztyepprétek, kisebb részben a nyílt füves puszták fajai közül kerülnek ki, mint Poa pratensis ssp. angustifolia, Centaurea arenaria, Eryngium campestre, Galium verum, Potentilla arenaria, Verbascum lychnitis, Silene otites var. pseudotites, Carex liparicarpos, Scabiosa ochroleuca.
